About the Event

Major depression and other mood disorders are frequently encountered in clinical practice, and counselors and therapists often find these clients challenging for a number of reasons. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), as an approach to treating depression first described and researched in the late 1970s and early 1980s, continues to be the gold standard for effective treatment of depression and has been shown to be effective in both short-term symptom remission and relapse prevention. Additional therapeutic approaches, including Behavioral Activation, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Rumination-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, have augmented our therapeutic arsenal. Standard CBT and these newer approaches will be described and demonstrated in this training, and special issues such as suicidality, anhedonia, and relapse will be discussed, along with strategies to address these challenges.

This live online event will be held as a Zoom Webinar. Attendees will have the option to interact through features such as the Chat and Q&A, but cameras and microphones will not be enabled.
