About the Event

In this live, interactive webinar we will discuss one of the most common disorders affecting the vestibular system: vestibular hypofunction. Discussions will include vestibular anatomy and physiology, common causes and symptoms of unilateral and bilateral vestibular hypofunction, medical and clinical testing, and treatment strategies to improve function, support participation in daily activities, and optimize functional outcomes.

Tonya Fuller

Tonya Fuller, MSPT is the founder of Dynamic Mobility & Balance Center in Englewood, CO, a private practice that specializes in the treatment of neurological injuries, brain injury, and vestibular disorders. Tonya received her Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 2001 from Texas Woman’s University in Dallas, TX. She began her career at Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation in Dallas, which is where she started treating vestibular disorders in 2006. Throughout her career, Tonya has participated and assisted on various research projects and has developed and presented a multitude of lectures to physicians and peers. Tonya develops and teaches continuing education courses to physicians, colleagues, and peers on topics involving the diagnosis and treatment of neurological, vestibular, and balance disorders.

Target Audience

This live interactive is intended for Physical Health professionals, including physical therapists, occupational therapies, and athletic trainers. It is appropriate for intermediate levels of knowledge.

Learning Objectives

After taking this activity, you should be able to:

  1. 1 Discuss the signs, symptoms, and causes of vestibular hypofunction.
  2. 2 Describe medical and clinical testing that can be performed to diagnose vestibular hypofunction.
  3. 3 Perform a basic evaluation, including clinical testing, as well as treatment strategies to improve vestibular hypofunction, functional performance, and participation in daily activities.
