INITIAL:
270 hours of education specific to the domains:
- Screening, Assessment, and Engagement
- Treatment Planning, Collaboration, and Referral
- Counseling
- Professional & Ethical Responsibilities
6 hours must be specific to counselor ethics.
RECERTIFICATION:
Initial MCB certification is good for one year, starting from the date your certification is approved. After your initial certification, you must renew your certification after one year. After your initial certification and first annual renewal, you will move to a two-year recertification cycle.
40 hours of MCB approved continuing education related to the IC&RC Alcohol and Drug Counselor Domains:
- Screening, Assessment, and Engagement
- Treatment Planning, Collaboration, and Referral
- Counseling
- Professional & Ethical Responsibilities
Credits must be earned within the past two-year certification period and include 6 hours in professional ethics and responsibilities.
