Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor
Initial - At least 190 hours of substance use disorder specific education or training. Up to 80 hours may be topics related to general skill building for counselors.
- At least 6 hours of clinical ethics (HIPAA, boundaries, dual relationships, confidentiality, etc.)
- At least 6 hours in one or more of these topics: HIV/AIDS/STD/TB/BBP
Renewal - At least 30 clock hours of SUD specific training. The remaining hours can be related to general counseling skills. - At least 3 hours of clinical ethics (HIPAA, boundaries, dual relationships, confidentiality, etc.)
- At least 3 hours in one or more of these topics: HIV/AIDS/STD/TB/BBP
- 3 hours of the special topics: Nicotine Dependence, Substance Abuse and Veterans, Substance Abuse and the Elderly, Psychopathology, and/or Evidence Based Treatment Approaches.
Yes You can use Impact CE for earning your CADC initial credential.
Any course accepted by NCSAPPB is applicable to the CADC credential.
